Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I talk to a lawyer?

First of all, a consultation with one of our attorneys is always free.  Second, the role of all of our attorneys is to protect your rights. Southern Med Law’s legal team would be more than happy to speak with you, help you gather the necessary evidence, and fully evaluate your potential case. We will review medical literature and speak with experts to provide you with a full assessment. We are always prepared to take any case we file all the way to trial, but are experienced in pretrial negotiations and other forms of dispute resolution.

What is Personal Injury?

Personal injury refers to harm or damage suffered by one individual due to the negligence or intentional actions of another party. This can be another person or a business that might make a product that harms the public.

Examples of common personal injury claims:

  1. Automobile Accidents: Injuries resulting from car, motorcycle, truck, or bicycle accidents often lead to personal injury claims.
  2. Slip and Fall Accidents: When a person is injured on someone else’s property due to unsafe conditions.
  3. Medical Malpractice: Injuries caused by negligent or substandard medical care by healthcare professionals.
  4. Product Liability: Harm caused by defective or dangerous products.
  5. Workplace Accidents: Injuries that occur in the workplace, which may also involve workers’ compensation claims.
  6. Assault and Battery: Injuries resulting from intentional acts of violence.

How are we different?

The team at Southern Med Law has over 50 years of combined legal expertise. While we are experienced in all type of civil litigation, our founder and lead trial attorney, Dr. François Blaudeau, brings his unique medical and legal perspective to each and every case.

How much do we charge?

Generally, Southern Med Law works on a contingency fee basis. That means that you only pay us if and when we win your case. Our fee comes in the form of a percentage of the settlement or verdict amount we obtain for you.

How long until I hear back from you?

Generally, Southern Med Law will get back to you within 24 hours after submitting a contact form. Our attorneys will reach out to you to discuss your case. After determining whether it is a case we are interested in pursuing, an attorney will review and get to know your case. Once your assigned attorney gets to know your case, they will reach out to you about an in person meeting.
